Is there such thing as a Simple Divorce?
Sometimes. If you have already negotiated and signed a separation agreement or obtained a court order dealing with all the other issues, all that is left to do is for one of you to apply for an uncontested divorce. This will require one of you to commence the Application and serve the Application on the other spouse who need do nothing because all the issues have already been resolved.
Your lawyer should review the separation agreement or court order prior to completing the Application for divorce because a Divorce Judgment will affect your claim to property and spousal support if these have not already been dealt with prior to divorce.
If your spouse is covering you under his/her group insurance plan, a divorce may terminate your eligibility to be covered.
